as if must tell something. Since its a friday, no books no magazines: Worst. This time noticing slight replacement with a handphone in that Products window to the left. Looks ok only i think. The screen on top is something my son always ask me to do it for him to play internet game. Luckily only needs java, no need flash and such. Here it is, done. So far ok, and with opera upgraded a bit to a newer version too. i think its faster than the previous version. One thing funny, at first cant find but found out opera actually install itself into kde menu-item. Hmm, what to do now... or should i. Probably not. Ok, nothing much, later... [NOTES ::] Probably still have to run there and tell something. See how first. [NOTES 1 ::] When installing another desktop for the family, accidentally stumped upon one of my java program written long time ago. Have a look at it, see no road, and donno which one is which one. As if very complicated but i dont think so. Can remember its just some i beams, c channals, angles and such. Probably a bit of temporary panals here and there. How ?? If dont bring out and have a bit of serious look again one more time, if no topic how ?? BTW, have a look again at this writting, seems that the writing model isnt lost. Glad and must really make sure this time. Ok, later...

donno where to put. Basically no books and magazines, might just as well put down here. This one is filegarden with javaPrint dialog in my bsd. The fun part for this one is because of grabbing screen have to think of a way to show-off as much as possible. Have done that one or two times in icewm last time. This one is gnome. A whole new thing as expected, but not too confusing. Quite sensible actually. And also, lately hearing a lot about virtual things, this and that. But why do we need to know and see all these. Weird. Errh... very weird. Why ?? Now got some more new things, no need boring. Ok, later... [NOTES ::] Just now that ending part sentences evaporate when click on the [Return to Album] button or something like that. Smaller parts re-edited sentences further up a bit also evaporate. Donno why. [NOTES 1 ::] Since cant see mouse pointer, probably will grab another one with highlighted menu item. [NOTES 2 ::] Noticing the Products window. Interesting... i like the Skinit laptop(i think) film(maybe) covering with the same type of orientation that is showing right now on the left side. [NOTES 3 ::] Must come here often... or think of a way to share model. [NOTES 4 ::] Takes a while to confirm and re-confirming(for spaces betwen dot and bracket). Better got text hoverings. Not complaining and such, at least for pro version. [NOTES 5 ::] Hmm. Recently actually have tried quite a number of applications, mostly for images and such. Many of them do have weird names that i cant even remember trying them. Looking at photos that i took, thinking better get my handphone screen changed to a working one fast. A bit itchy now, feels like taking photos with handphone again. For this coming newer year, probably will tidy up those messy directories, files within them, and those disks/partitions. No wonder nowadays disks are normally 100 over 200 gb at lowest minimum. What to do. Ok, later...

a bit like wandering off. Donno want to put where. Or maybe come out with something like a link. But when clicked, or touched, or aimed at with eye balls it would only display... i mean only shows lines, words and things that were drew out first then set, moved, shifted up and down left-right-center accordingly(while typing) in a unique single done block of passage to only be displayed across different types of sites. Guess that it would be kind of like a write once display anywhere type of thing. And with correct locale translations too. Most importantly this can be quite fun. On top is my fedora desktop with oss sound system. Something that works for my desktop as my needs are simpler in comparision. Now playing two different kinds of looped audios at the same time in my fedora. For things that i can see only... seemed that kde(gnome also) things are going for a single complete solution for a complex desktop and at the same time are going for ease of use for all those desktop users out there too. Thats logic anyway i guess. What to do... kde people are heading towards a successfull linux desktop commercially and at homes quite soon. Now have a few very good books on hands. A bit busy. Ok, later...

try slackware type packaging format. Can see new one is in txz, even for the varient zenwalk(??) and such. Searching for and installing pkgtools, rpm2targz and a certain kind of tar i think. About the same thing, initially with the help of gambas. Applications/scripts like pkgtools and rpm2targz are quite standalone as long as there is a running linux. i like the style of slackware package type, very clean way of doing things. Removing filegarden rpm and re-installing using slackware type and slackware commands. Basically still the same thing: Installing and Running. Can also see that my slackware files are actually in /var/log directory. Now... so far 3 major packaging format types: Rpm type a lot of variables, like doing big and important things: Slackware type short, fast and sharp in commands... rarely have why-they-never-think-of-that issue when all i need is just that: Ubuntu deb type works flawlessly... dont lose gnome, gnome is good. And i believe i havent go into 2 very important things yet: One namely those desktop effects like icons and menu items for applications: And second is to actually compiling the application first when building a package for it (right ?? or something like that). Next time then have a look at the new txz slackware packaging format. Not sure whether this tgz package works on actual slackware system or not... right now not possible for me to test it. Beware. But now go searching for my slackware logo first. Ok, later...

rpmbuilder and pkgbuilder run differently, staring at them donno what to do next after installations. Looked complicated. But at least with the help of rpmbuilder(or pkgbuilder, cant remember which one already), can get a directory of basic directories structure for building a rpm. Have also looked into rpm build by gambas. From the readme of rpmbuilder, can see how a rpm spec file looks like. Luckily filegarden rpm is really simple. The click-to-install effect that i want with modern filemanager(dolphine in this case) doesnt run as expected. My packagekit crashed, in the end have to browse with yumex. As a normal user, probably need to sudo first before any installation of rpm... is it ?? Ok, later...

after actually installing filegarden in my newer machine this time, which is a p4 unlike the other older p3. Decided to at least try a click-to-install package from within a modern filemanager like nautilus and such. Theres a debreate to create a deb package. Very easy to use for a first timer. Its a gui-ed application made for beginners who want to package any files and directories they might have. Cant find any gui-ed application for rpm package and probably also some other package types. Ok, later...

ok, gthumb in my solaris. Donno how to use sshfs, so using gvfs. But weird, where is the directory, cant see it. Export to index(with html) instead of html listing(with lots of details for each files) with colums and rows. Didnt change the coloring of the index, better using default coloring for this desktop image. Actually not too slow, can see that gthumb is fast. But how to filter files types when thumbnailing ?? If not wrong, when there are iso, movies and such... thumbnailing is like forever. Change here change there, closing here rerunning from there again, waiting here waiting there, my solaris never crash. Really, very solid. Ok, later...

found something again... weird names plus never listen before functions. One is for raw image processing and one is a hdr tool. And they are raw therapee and qtpfsgui respectively. Qtpfsgui can be installed straightly through the gui-ed package manager of my ubuntu, raw therapee needs to download from their sites first, just unpack and run it straight from the terminal. Both seem very solid imaging applications for linux and probably also bsd too. The one on the left is very good in ui, seems complicated at first but after playing around with it a bit will know this one is a must have if standardizing batch processing of images is important. Dont be fooled by the complicated look, its usage is actually very common sensical and smooth flowing. For first timer, probably theres a need to read up the documentations for a little bit of technical things. As for technical things, then qtpfsgui is the worst so far. Must read first. If not, then something like on the right will happen. Actually quite fun for someone who got no idea what is hdr, as if playing with gimp layers. Also a standardizing batch processor i think, right now suspecting the simple and clearly written documentation that comes as a little help menu item will be one of the best i have seen. Initially there are three applications for the above desktop image. Its gthumb, uninstalled it for lacking of free harddisk space. But can still remember gthumb exports of thumbnails into html presentations are more varied with nicer styles. Btw, if files were read through sshfs from my older machine, raw therapee is still very fast. Currently images are all over across different disks/partitions/and even inside different systems, probably its time to seperate out a single large disk or two solely for them. Must do this early. Will try gthumb in my solaris whether got 1(2 ??) gb of ram or not, i think must be very patient with it. Ok, later...

ok, trying my bsd this time. Suspecting it should be the fastest when running bluemarine. Actually quite true. Bsd always runs light. Tried diablo jre, cant find certain library for java motif, diablo jdk also dont have. Installing sun jre instead. Should be virtual if like that, but still very fast in building those thumbnails through sshfs from my older machine. Infact the fastest so far. Now, how to set the time in freebsd. Btw, at last in bsd i can run its slides show but cant find a way to close it. Ok, later...

ok, my fedora kde is a bit heavy while my ubuntu is much lighter. Rerun bluemarine in my ubuntu in-order to be able to play around a bit more see whether got other interesting things come out. Try to built thumbnails of a whole directory for the first time through sshfs from my older machine, but like forever. Probably the application also go inside those sub-directories(donno where is the setting for this one). Made a test directory just to copy necessary images into it for the application to run a bit faster. Hopefully but it works. Found a few interesting things this time: Knows how to populate that film strip below, knows how to undock that window, knows how to show image seize in thumbnails. One thing is if when building thumbnails, if its like forever then how. i think the application does keep thumbnails in owns cache some where, seems faster a bit if rerun bluemarine the second or third time on the same directory. Another thing, i wont run its slide show again, terrible in my case. Donno why. i think this one is a good one, should comes with a printed how-to tutorial plus examples, use better paper for this booklet though, put beside my desktop: My own time. Now deleting that test directory. Btw, more or less in the same way and style, songbird is also very good. Ok, later...

ok, boot into my ubuntu trying bluemarine, probably runs lighter down there. At first still the same thing, cant import any media in any way at all. Weird. Look around a bit, so it really is a kind of work flow thing. Boot up my fedora kde, reruns bluemarine: Import first, select all those broken thumbnails, then create thumbnails this time by clicking on that small tv box in the top icon-bar. And then basically staring at it donno what to do next. i think basically this one is for professional photographers from the real world, so no choice have to read up a bit. Help files, tutorials and documentations and such. They have things like calender, trips, locations etc etc. Even got a kind of 3d maps with rivers, seas, greens, deserts, mountains, gorges, ridges etc etc etc... where people can exactly(probably) point to with their photographs. Its better to have more ram and a new machine with this one. Ok, later...

This time try using some media managers in my fedora kde. Quite a number of them are actually web based one, for example one that got something to do with kopi. Can remember its quite interesting after reading up the comments. Installing bluemarine and albumsharper. When bluemarine finished loading you know its a very very solid one, something like songbird. But on my machine, always error on importing images into the thumbnails viewer. Got thumnails but no image in everyone of them, probably need more ram or new machine, or both. Donno. i like albumsharper, very easy to use without reading any doc. Just need to play around a bit for a while, no big thing. Very fast while working on importing and exporting of images. The one on the left is a html output by albumsharper. A few themes to choose from when saving the ouput, this one is metallic i think. By clicking on the sub-albums will show thumbnail images. Ok, later...

try searching for media browser. Quite a number of them, some of them are kde applications, gnome one not so complicated, picassa seems the best from how people comment about it. Installing imgseek and feh. Imgseek is good and fast(very fast) to use without reading any doc, feh need to read a bit but that is only from the terminal... so, quite good, fast and easy to use too. Imgseek can output image directories into html file with directories names included in batch jobs. At least one image browser can do video files browsing and viewing. Ok, later...

got books and/or magazines also can try something else every now and then... this time trying the lesser known gmusicbrowser. Even after a while also donno how to use it. But probably not weird for this one. Great as this music player can be installed through a gui-ed package managing application. So far only managed to drag-and-drop music files onto the listing pane... both of them. If know or learn how to use it, does seem very powerfull. Just like eric4, another ide... a python thing. Same thing, donno how to use it. Need to use it as my main work application in-order to get use to it i think. Sort of like an all-in-one thing, files/projects managing/compiling and such. For the time being only able to drag-and-drop files onto the tabbed text editor and staring at it, donno what to do next. Open up the configuration dialog for this screenshot if some people may love to try it themselves. Ok, later...

actually still no books and/or magazines... might just as well find some other thing to play a bit first. Came across this kbasic, infact almost missed it since my systems and machine are definately newer now. Can see that it got video box and sound. Paste in the path and run it, complaining about something like "cant draw onto empty canvas" for the video box and "cant find qt phonon" for the sound. But i'm sure kbasic can play mpg video and mp3 audio straightly when running. In my case, probably just need to install some more software and/or to configure qt(??) a bit. No big thing if i cant play mpg and mp3 right now. Quickly trying webview control(they also have rich memo and html view too). Again the same thing, paste in the path. Some pages load during design time but the whole frame evaporates and gone when i try to run it. While some pages load without problems during designing and when running it. i can also compile programs into stand alone linux binaries like that one on top. Can also compile into windows and mac binaries i think. BTW, all this with my fedora. Forgot to mention, kbasic also boast the largest taskbar hints, a really large one. Probably later on will update the above image a bit... just maybe only. And something for the off record, as my main system now is my ubuntu, and i have been using it for quite some time... last night when i went into my fedora, unlike my ubuntu... it was so quiet, really really very quiet. Not bad. Ok, later... [NOTES ::] Last night then noticed my account storage is at 98% usage, how come suddenly so many since the last time i checked. A bit eat strength, how arh...

ok... since there are a few updates to my ubuntu for the past few days or past one or two weeks. Why not try again pitivi. Suddenly it works !! Donno why. Although this seems a bit different from the pitivi in my fedora. No playback, no sound: Cant import wav, probably about something not linked yet. And i can also remember seeing images on those strips of film too. Anyway, this pitivi is able to output a video file which i can still view with my gxine. At least something hurh... BTW, have been trying to use my ubuntu straightly from stock distribution(kind of), now then know why i like to use my desktop so much, kind of like a real desktop... cant help it hurh. Anyway, all those files and folders on my desktop almost all of them will be deleted after finished working on them. Thinking about it, if i really get used to this way of working, what will happen. Weird too right ?? Ok, later... Anyway, basically speaking, mainly using ubuntu now, seems faster or the fastest i have got right now although thats without considering bsd. But if got new machine, assuming so new until there arent much differences in speed between distributions of linux, most probably i will be using fedora as i prefer the background that came with it more. Also about the kde, i actually like fedora kde. As fedora kde is damn new to me, but cant feel i'm relearning anything at all. Unlike some other new things that i have tried reluctantly. So, either kde be more gnome or gnome be more kde. Or both... until they met. And also, new machines, new vendors all make this issue looks stupid. Ok, later...

when uninstalling totem, saw this totem-xine. Ok... use the terminal a bit this time, but still evaporates. Donno why. Try some video editors. Only openmovieeditor and avidemux run flawlessly so far. Pitivi evaporates while diva donno go where until now still cannot find. Sounds wasted. Now uninstalling pitivi. As for screenshot, probably must put up this kind. My ubuntu actually can play everything hurh, and thats without using terminals and text files, just checking around inside synaptic will do. Ok, later... just came back from fedora, trying installing piviti. Good, it works. Apart from the nice feature of able to "zoom" into finer ticks of seconds of a single picture frame, all in all probably not too different from openmovieeditor... lucky hurh. Remember some time ago, saw one application that functions like a movie editor(is it ??), something to do with gimp but its not gimp. Now cant remember which one. Again, came back from fedora, its cinepaint. A bit weird to use, so only play around with flipbook... but maybe some people may need the whole thing. The one i already have its in gtk1, fedora one is newer(fltk??). Something taken for granted for few days so far: linux now bootup bootdown very fast. Something like bsd hurh, or is it because i'm on newer machine ?? Now doing some latest(??) security updates but i thought i have switched it off, what happen leh. Oh dear, almost forgotton to check the printing capabality. Just check a bit... works flawlessly so far: Pure cups printing. Probably must use big letter and must also at least find something to end here... that is watching tv. Doesnt work in ubuntu and fedora, both of them either got image but no sound or totally nothing. Bsd works straight away. Solaris fair enough, the driver is unavailable. Have uninstalled those tv applications altogether. Gnome actually got applications for tv, zapping and metv. Probably next time will get myself another card. Ok, later... Removing fwbuilder, firestarter and such. Using gufw, dont ask why, donno how to say...

suppose to be audacious, but how come i donno. Similar to xmms, the only thing is this time dont have to test the cd tracks listing by the plugins inside the options dialog. And there is BeepMediaPlayer, but cant find it in synaptic, whether in short-form name or long-form name or whatever name i can think of. Narh, this may be a very good chance to be messy a bit, but it would be better if just hoping bmp is not better than audacious in anyway. The other one is a simple cdplayer code example from gambas. Can list cd tracks flawlessly but donno why no sound. Guess should be easy if know anything about sound and audio in linux. Until now i still donno from which directory audacious read in cd tracks. BTW, with this new ubuntu of mine, will be using it straightly... only synaptic, will try avoiding using terminals, text files, workarounds and such. Will also leave whatever applications options in their default as much as possible... options in fiirefox(excepting enabling the must show tab option and a bit of fonts things) and synaptic for example. And probably will also be using the recycle-bin, funny hurh... if can remember well, i dont even normally use that in win95/98. Must get use to it this time. Yup, my new ubuntu does sounds like win95/98. How come still can run so fast harh. Have just changed my ubuntu startup and shutting down sound to a better one. Ok, thats all, later... [NOTES::] have just finished installing flash-plugins, it works flawlessly. Now testing the net with everything on. [NOTES 1::] after trying the net with everything on, still consider fast. What if ubuntu actually try some more "eye-candy" on the desktop, something like fedora kde. Their kde also quite plain. So that i wont switch between fedora and ubuntu too often. "Eye-candy" for the actual desktop but not so much during the installation of new system. Must tell. Installing xine, gxine, totem, qps. Xine and qps evaporate like thin air once they appear. Gxine got no title bar, totem looks great. Use gxine and uninstalling the rest...

dont think a 1900 screen can accomodates one more gambas clearly, then why not this one. My new ubuntu, about version 9.something, cant remember. Havent change anything yet, except for those system/net monitoring at the top. Cant stand "Cannot see anything". Have to work with a different way without my fav applications and whatever. A bit cocked-up i guessed, forgotten that i'm still in 1280 screen, forgotten to check whether the file is larger than 1mb, and have to fire up my gimp (yes, came pre-installed in ubuntu), and such. One thing amazed me is that ubuntu actually is very fast, the installation is straight forward and fast. After bootup into my new ubuntu, it still fast, amazing !! As i know the installation is on the second older harddisk, what if the installation was on my first harddisk, will it be faster... i guess so. BTW, what are the default grub configurations for this installation, cant find them at ubuntu sites. Donno why must tell. And... since when xmms had gone up to version 2. Weird. How to use this xmms. Ok, later...

ok, update a bit. Actually wanted to replace that previous one with this one, but i like the cde look, so might just as well also put up this screenshot. Frankly speakig, no-wonder cde applications their frames tend to be a bit broader in comparision, donno why, probably just an impression of it. No-wonder dont feel picky at all, but not so when suddenly in metal mode. Terrible. So... its just one of the setting to get this java look. Now also preview in nimbus mode, seriously... first time know got this kind of mode. Not really like it. For simpler things, sometime can just program my way through with javadoc. Just have a bit more seriously look at it, if together with those error hints while typing something, actually not bad having javadoc around inside the ide. Now, how to run gambas, lazarus, creator(but its a c++, most probably something already made) and netbeans at the same time ?? Never plan properly hurh, wasting time again right. Scratch head and as a saying goes: "eat strength arh". Now then thinking if i were to have another p4 machine, preferably a branded one like the acer machine i have got... that would be great too. Dont worry, the machine will be taken good care of. Dont waste it. Ok, later...

studio difficult to use, looked like only for files, probably need to connect something to the ide. Same with eclipse, probably also need to connect something. A bit slow if i run eclipse, donno why. The studio runs fast, can spend more time looking around within the ide with ease. Unlike last time, the mouse goes right when my mouse goes left. When clicks on a link, the menu suddenly pull down by itself... got ghost hurh. Narh, this one is good: netbeans. Got buttons, dont need to do or connect anything. The one behind is a preview in metal mode from the ide, the one infront runs directly but in cde mode, weird hurh. And its a version 1.0. If can remember well, java also has videobox and audio widgets right?? But where are they?? probably also need to connect something to the ide before i can see them. Printing... my impression is there is no printing widget in almost all of the ide i have try. My fav editor cant work in this desktop, donno why... thin like air, but luckily i know a bit of vi. Ok, later...

probably 4/5 hundreads mb of software applications. When installing, cant use the managing gui... cant see anything, donno whether its stucked somewhere or just doing something else which they thought i dont need to know. Here am i, missing it... All in all not bad, solaris never crash your desktop even if everything seemingly have patiently finished up, bsd as light and as thin as handphone sims even if i'm on heavy desktop, and linux just spreads... Most importantly, now i can play something straight without doing anything at all. Unlike last time, must install from cdrom(call this an improvement away from floppies and/or over the net) but will realize that i actually cannnot do anything with the cd device. Weird. Got rid of the digital enhancement. Now boasting a proper, correct and standard speaker system. Ok, later...

yesterday when installing qtcreator saw this gambas, almost forgotten about this one... lucky. Got a lot of linking components: qt, gtk, kde, opengl, sdl, etc etc etc. The one above is a plain one. Quite shocking gambas actually boast a moviebox, load at least a mpg(cant get anymore default than that i assume) video file into its path... run it, nothing happen. Check a bit, this moviebox can only play animation file. Gambas will also do it for you if you want to distribute your software applications, can choose rpm, deb, slackware or plain(??) packaging types, very nice capabality. Although donno why the version have to be 0.0.4-1. There are too many good stuffs in gambas, donno which one to shoot as screenshots. Even in plain style(i think its a gtk), i still have to shoot in 1900 screen in-order to accomodate enough of them clearly. And also, the fonts looked normal a bit. Thinking the gambas people maybe purposely one(^_^) ... BTW, now i'm thinking of trying a really really heavy duty one, like carrying i-beam going to and fro piece by piece to save time a bit... but theres a saying down here: "why ?? without you the company bankrupt harh...". Most probably will run it in my ubuntu. Ok, thats all, later...

again, here it is... my shiny new qtcreator. My fedora is quite empty, have to install quite a number of software packages inorder for the qtcreator to function properly. But one thing good is that i can actually have the creator running and at the same time installing packages that it needs through yumex. By compiling this tiny program again and again, by firstly enabling all the qt linking libraries during the questions and answers stage of creating a new project... until dependancies are all satisfied, Think about it, why not having yumexing capabality build into the creator, package installing and updating or upgrading and such, that would be good. Only a button, donno how to go any further than that, try already. Must learn c++ harh. But look at those kde stuffs, indeed a bit too tempting. And what is this phonon ?? it needs fortran, valgrind, xine and gstream, weird hurh, probably its not qt like i have thought so. Anyway, the main form behind runs from my fedora, the one in front runs from my ubuntu after disabling all the linking options when building it. Ok, later...

here it is, probably lazarus in gtk1, very sharp hurh... just now have a look on the net, there are interface for gtk2, qt4 and one or two mac-like for mac machines, and also some sreenshots for qt ones. But may need to recompile lazarus yourself, how ?? is it just a short while or recompiling the whole thing ?? i dont quite understand what i read... i believe may also have binaries for downloading. The wild one. BTW, kind of like missing my p2 machine. Ok, later...

donno why must put this screenshots up, like must tell people hurh. But put it in this way... counting a bit, solaris got 3, bsd got 4, fedora only got 2, cannot right... what make it worst is that fedora doesnt spot a gimp. Install my gimp from yumex and there it is. Gimp is a bit different from those previous version now: can only spot one main menu. And i think its good. BTW, now my machines can boast about pure(still not very sure what this actually means, but...) cups printing service residing in my p2 machine... actually a bit headache, just a little bit messier than before i guess. Donno why must tell. Ok, thats all, later...

actually donno what to put, but seem a bit unbalance, everybody have a few but fedora only got one... being a bit repetitive also never mind i guess. Its a plain text memo instead of a rich one, the rich one i donno how to load in the source directly from the designer. After going through quite a few of them quickly, looked like its rather different from delphi or kylix... a bit wasted, and thats from my veiwpoint of going for another ide though, just a bit only. And a few days later i find this "Show the desktop" doesnt do what i expect it to do, a bit troublesome, actually dont have to show all again but probably i donno how and where to configure it. Ok, later...

actually wanted to install centos, went to their sites they say the single live cd cant do a harddisk installation(?? cant be sure), only usb installation(?? cant be sure). No choice but to download fedora... but die die must have ext4 partition, ext3 only for that "/boot" directory. Weird. Quickly put in a 6gb dsk, a noisy one, like inside the grease all dried up. The fedora installation is good, quite straight forward. Probably nowadays new software applications all behave like they are writtten in java... while the actual installation, which is the copying of files onto my disks, is a lot faster than going through those few pages(4 or 5) of choosing options for the eventual installation of the system... guess that having newer machines is not the same as having new machines, what to do. Weird. Ok, i like those boot up/start up theme with its images and animations, also like the background, not bad... after first time boot up, wondering is it a gnome or a kde, thought that i downloaded the wrong iso. Weird too. In fedora, you can actually listen to music straightly without doing anything after the very first login into your brand new fedora... the latest one, yeah!! everything is so new to me, after a short while will get used to it, since fedora is fast on at least a p4 machine, so not much problem. From a gui-ed yumex, can see they also have qt, version 4.5, they also have qtcreator. And one last thing, not really that important though... i cant login into 1280x1042 screen, everytime its a 1152x864... either have to set it manually everytime or add in the widget "Screen resize and rotate". Ok, thats all, later...

ok, qtcreator from my ubuntu, download the binary from qt sites, put it somewhere onto my disk and just run it... lucky for me, really... no need to be "messier". Probably some non-functioning latest buttons and the like, but i think can do without them... still not very sure though, havent really try it seriously... but its a qt no doubt, i have faith. Another one thing is that, if running through wires, its as slow as those really big on disk local java applications, if like that running on an opensolaris, how ?? must train my patience ??... Ok, just written a web browser all by myself, not bad hurh... probably need to add in one more edit box, combo also can... this time will save to history list, promise. Anyway, cant see any video box or audio speaker, like that harh... what i want to say is, if have, that would be great, a very solid one. Ok, later...

just got qt4 from blastware, but cant compile arora, seems like need to download the whole qt source(hope not though)... a bit wasted, for a full-blown(kind of like) graphical piece of software, arora is easy and fast to compile. If can, its good to have an extra copy for testing just to make sure(the rest i can just imagine, no problem with that). And gnome also have this rather light weight galeon too. After searching a bit over the net, saw this qtcreator, thinking this one might be a true ide, and they only have binaries for linux... going back to my ubuntu on my p2 machine ?? how ?? a bit phobia with messy things already... just read up a few more on the net, someone had done compiling qtcreator, but its for bsd... searching for galeon, solaris dont have, blastware also dont have, trying epiphany from blastware, found out epiphany comes with mozilla... no comments for both of them though. Because i need to have a quicker "at a glance" of blastware listing, need to install a piece of software which i hardly missed on the few systems that i have tried : dillo... how can i forget about it, its one of the best reader i have seen so far. Weird. But after having dillo i think i have to stop at this point. In my case, shouldnt go any further from this point onwards... have to control a bit...

recently found this arora, a light web browser, though donno how light it is as i'm on a p4 machine right now, but from what i can see the firing up of this application is faster than my opera... because have to compile it, get to know this qt ide, but right now, no matter how i try, looked like this ide doesnt write a unit file for me, probably just the header file the most. Cant save into a project. Cant even run anything at all. Probably donno how. Not sure whether its a good ide or not, really cant get use to it(over pampered by delphi style already i guess), and i think i have seen this sort of ide before, if can remember well, a bit similar to cde(??) ide in solaris(just the impression though). Anyway, its still c++, i have problems with those symbols, hard to get use to the logic of them. Probably too late now even if i try very hard to look at them. Or... i have still quite a lot of read-ups to do, can try to uderstand this qt more, and this zfs too, still donno whats the real use of it, hard to relate it with my stuffs(simplistic no doubt). Ok, later...

i actually prefer this one as my desktop, but when i saw that bsd background somewhere on the net, not bad either... probably not trying to have the same thing again. Ok, now... the second partition is for solaris, the third partition is for bsd, as for the first one... how ?? which one ?? ... probably not gnome again, can go for rpm based though not exactly necessary. This machine is actually using solaris grub, and there is just a single "/boot" directory in my linux partition. Thinking about it, probably this partition can be used as a scratch linux installations space as its on a newer machine (not new though), should be a lot faster in installations of linux than my the other main work-horse machine which is a lot slower but i guess the main thing is what those older partitions already have in them and in a short while i will start clearing a couple of partitions for spaces... maybe its better to use linux live and new... ok, looking back at the scratch installation space for various linux, if they came in just a single 500/600+ mb cd iso that would be great too... if have, then probably have to be clear with that too, as the saying down here goes : "no need thinking here thinking there, suspicious here suspicious there and in the end give up"... every time when i see multiple cds or dvds (even if its a single dvd)... very headache, like i'm getting them form magazines/newspaper/or whatever street booths. Ok, will have a look at fedora first... .

previously forgotten to rename the desktop icon, might just as well put up another screenshot... this is open solaris instead of solaris express, no-wonder it comes in a single cd instead of a few(or a couple of dvd)... so far so good, never literally turns pale and get stuck forever no matter what happen, very solid... i can even play my music cd straightly after the installation, guess that i wont be installing icewm, just leave it as it is and see how the desktop works by using the gui package manager and known applications as much as possible, they also have stuffs for scanners and web cams which i think need to install also... forget to mention, normally desktop backgrounds come in different colors, red, blue, green, brown, violet, gray and so on, i guess thats the standard way to bundle desktop backgrounds, or at least gives a transparent layer of those beautifull rings, must be large enough, as those rings are difficult to "extract" out, a bit wasted... ok, by luck, just found a way to upload larger images to here, as long as i keep their size down to 1 mb... how ?? so many of them... Anyway, with open solaris, basically just use it after installation, and dont go and disable the fabric service... yup, couple of days ago donno why i try disabling services that i guess my machine is not going to use, at least right now, i saw this fabric thing, thinking its somekind of expensive equipments or wire, and the hints in the service dialog are a bit too standard, they all sound the same as far as i'm concerned, people may think you are not telling... in the end i have to re-enable the fabric service, including a few others until console lines started rolling and reboot... i think i saw a few previous states saved in certain directory, but donno how to bootup with a chosen states... still got things to learn one by one, not really in a hurry... Ok, a limit to this, the second solaris partition is 40gb, bsd easy to choose but for linux, i'm thinking of either red flag, centos or fedora... which one ?? .

ok, its an acer p4 speed 2.4g machine, memory 512mb, a bit too little but i guess its the faster type one, right ?? i hope so... everything is ok on the inside, the hd, the lan connector and the sound... tested by booting straight into it with my puppy and my slitaz. The only thing that needs to do a bit of setup is the internet connection, they are straight forward with both live cd, about 2 to 3 steps only and thats it... btw, previously it was a xp machine, the users (there were two accounts) are quite clean with their desktops, and one of them is a kid, they listen to a lot of music through itunes, really a lot... there are folders for lots of pictures and some 3gp videos too, and a couple of handphones, whats impotant is all "personal" folders are rather "consolidated" which is very good, i actually like it... unlike some machines, folders and files are everywhere donno like what --> vomit blood and shake head... ok, but... how to say it huh... probably for memory and for a record, i believe its better for me to take a couple of snapshots before i do something with this machine... and also, i learn that its good to have newer p4 (and above ??) machines and newer systems these days as my slitaz is able to show 1900px (i think) desktop without me doing anything !! no doubt with a bit of fingers crossing, i'm also quite conservative you see, really hard to believe even until now... .

like must say something, donno why... this one is slitaz, another live linux. Very small, only about 24 mb or so to burn onto a blank cd if i'm not wrong.The linux welcome screen appeared before you finish blinking your eyes, really... from there, after choosing two options by a dialog, it just boot into jwm(a working linux desktop), so far probably the fastest i have seen, about the same as dsl. You can also choose to log in as root or a normal user if you want... this live system also got a network-boot version, about five minutes to boot up if over a 1 mb internet connection(supposingly in france though). Many installable application packages to choose from, but no enscript. And most importantly, this distro took great care of the color scheme... actually without reading any manuals and documentations, basically this one is a good and clean just-use-it linux distro. By the way, now i'm on a p3 450 mhz machine and the memory is about 300 plus mb, it used to be a dell desktop, a branded one so-called... not so bad, at least something, and the one besides this one is my freebsd, just to make sure... Ok, thats all... [NOTES ::] corrections after checking up with their sites a bit, now i'm in my redhat9 writing in this 2 liner text pad, good for training of my eyes|memory... .

ok, basically bringing forward and quickly finished up all those new years(hopefully next year would be a dozen of them), quite nice and feels great too ... i think i just need to post only this screen shot of my current systems. An all-in-one, my freebsd still there, no worry ... as for solaris, it was that "windows" disk not big enough for windows eventually, as expected cant be bothered to say much and it looked great. Who knows ... i might see solaris back on that disk again(one way is to just keep quiet clearing and moving those stuffs, may need sometime to get noticed anyway or probably wont, so messy, ai) ... the rest are still the same, you know ... ubuntu la, redhat la, redflag la and such except for the upgrading of my puppy to version 4.1.2 about 2 months or so ago(cant remember), but its still the same to me ... so, as usual until next year and forward. So ... yup, linux erh ... [NOTES ::] long time no write and i can see those words really wrap, what to do ... [NOTES 1 ::] hmm ... its the description [NOTES 2 ::] its the first one on this new page. So, it would be a lucky year...

hmm, how come got page two ... you dont come and scare me again ... ok, basically this is a fun page ... its about kylix , let me see ... ok, basically the ide i have already gave up long long time ago, like wasting my time only ... remembering i was on something like a p2 400 speed(maybe also something slower, cant remember exactly) ... anyway, during that time as long as i can still keep the help file running and "quickly"(get what i mean) save a few common "templates" ... coupling them up with dcc , two xterm(sometime three, just to feel "cleaner"... get what i mean) , a good text editor and a good file manager then i think its ok ... but have to make sure that those bloody templates are/or must be *correct*, something which i have sort of like lost control over them ... too bad ... so, can forget about running the ide in newer ubuntu, fedora, suse or whatever and its really heavy anyway , like writing unit file with open office ... what to do, nobody tell me only know pascal plus a bit of html ... or ... if you want, can try lazarus or gambas as its also quite heartening to work with them too and my impression about them is that they are quite complete ... or ... can also try java or c/c++ ^_^ ... hell, can goes on and on non stop ... [NOTES ::] forget to mention ... having a few books about delphi is very good , have to buy them ... no choice as borrowing is not enough ... those are more or less big books , two of what i'm having are torned into 2 halves(too big for softer covers i guess) and i'm still using them ... btw , normally for kylix its going to be books about pascal and delphi 2 to 4 ... newer delphi ones(for reading also can) may have additional stuffs in them and the rest would be stuffs from the internet ... and the next thing , if in linux and if i want , would naturally be java ... ok , a bit tired running here and there ... switching problem ... 唉。。。 hmm, two lines text pad is very good for training ^_^ ...

ok, just now clicked on the edit button just wanted to have a look at it ... donno what i pressed and they changed my ordering of stuffs ... and since now my puppy 4.something has changed a little bit i might just as well put up a newer one and delete that older one ... but wait, i remember i did wrote something right ?? ... mati lah if like that, how to get back those things ... anyway, this is puppy 4.something the latest one from puppy linux sites ... burn it and boot it up, setup a bit here and there and you are basically ready to install "everything"(also the latest ones) ... yah right, i did mentioned about the size of live linux and this one is only about 99 mb big ... so probably this makes sense if we can stop updating desktop "live" ... just burn a newer "stable" releases every 1 or 2 months and just boot them up "blindly" for purposes like installing other latest releases of software applications ... and also, since our "older" live linux cd are really not that old we can just give away all of them or just hang them up somewhere around or on public notice board and places like that ... "village" wet market vicinity also can ... its up to them really, and our tour guides and those "parliment" type people may help a bit, just your time over the weekend only and no money and your bright future involved ... ok, anything else that i might have left out ?? ... yah yah yah, that green round button at the bottom that i can always remember ... no wonder i cant find it no matter what ... ^_^ [NOTES ::] today just found out puppy also comes with gtkkam and my pc camera works ... but i think it is not very good for those people as they might say that this software is a bit funny(just funny only, not something insulting) ... hmm, i donno ... maybe ?? and please dont call me strange as i'm really not that strange after all ... ^_^ [NOTES 1 ::] almost forgotton about syncing of hand-phones and probably palms/handhelds but these are not that critical ... i mean, bloody hell, move to the city(those bright little dot.dot.dot.dot along the parameter) if you want ... btw, xsane has faxing function and maybe can also use simple efax for sending and receiving of faxes to and from the cities ... [NOTES 2 ::] yah, printers stuffs ... with this, i think its better to let those small time printer tech van sales people sort them out for you ... not that expensive including related individual hardwares and spares really, and i think they work very hard ... can try telling them you are using linux ... probably for some of them its just new stuffs that they would want to know also, no big deal for people like them i guess ... 好了，太多了。。。好像又忘了哪边。。。哎，回头跑去哪边看看。。。

ok, the previous one is somewhat personal(things that i like personally including this xmms) so this one is sort of like the correct one ... frankly speaking, at first i'm not sure what is the actual use of applications like this one but now then i know ... i'm actually amazed by it when using it ... cant wait to see how it looks like when it reach version 2, 3 or 4 ^_^ ... must be very solid ... and also, now then i know pidgin is actually the same as gaim although in puppy linux their home files are in the directory of .purple while in my p3 they still share the same home files directory ... weird erh ... now, what other names i'm still get mixed up with ... they all sound the same like they must be some application for chatting, for hand-phones, for cameras and their photo/video ... weird and hard to "pin-down" names unlike those birds ^_^ ...

this one is bigger ... everything is original from the live cd except for the desktop itself and those applications(about 4 of them) ... actually, i hardly use the start menu if i ever use it at all ... hmm, probably forgotten to put leafpad(sort of like notepad) onto the desktop although a good and fast 'yellow sticky notes' system would be the best as knotes is too heavy and a bit too serious in my opinion ... but looks like people tend to write or search for(they actually do more on this one) little notes in their emailing client !! ... maybe this way of working is a bit weird for me but i still think a very simple but powerful(probably like wordpad) notes system is good for writing down stuffs briefly and hurriedly whether or not people will saved them for future use(they dont have to remember where they put them or even what is the filename) or just a one-shot-off noting and can forget about it ... ok, after i have a look at the above ... that sounds more and more like some classy tissue papers from some kind of places that women(but nowadays guys also) like to show the whole world as if people donno ... [NOTES ::] how can i forget about songbird really, and on my way there i saw this sunbird(now downloading both of them)... hmm, so many birds down there hurh ^_^ ... and also, the thunderbird i have still cant do re-ordering of accounts by dragging up and down inside the left pane ... maybe i havent update to the latest ones or i missed something obvious ... and seems that mozilla is really big and it is suppose to be a very good(i like the way they do their user setting in each user home directory) desktop(and nothing else) ...

get the puppy linux cd and load it straight into a toshiba laptop mounted onto a 14" monitor ... setting up the desktop and its applications a bit here and there and puppy will sort of automatically save all the settings into a usb disk(the chosen one) when shutting down ... the next time i boot up ... the settings are like forever there already ... can start work anytime ... [NOTES ::] i dont like if there is something happen when i left clicked on my desktop, very weird ... unless they are just desktop refresh, that would be great ... [NOTES 1 ::] hmm, why no #13#10 ... ?? why ... [NOTES 2 ::] actually can forget about the modem ... pampering some people too much and they definately know more(and can do more) than what they are knowing now(or everyday)... which is to say it is either fast connections + real papers (not newer rubbish) *or* fast connections cum modems cum nothing-else whichever one of these three comes first , really ... [NOTES 3 ::] not to say that puppy can runs every newer pc/laptops ... from those few things that i have tried and in terms of those linux live cd that i already have and those few newer pc/laptops(a lot newer in comparision to my own p3) that i can come nearer to ... it seems that dsl(an older version though) is the one that can finishes the bootup in most of the case *straight* ... donno why ... [NOTES 4 ::] btw , writing and editing in a tiny editor is actually quite fun ...
